This Mach I is fully documented with a MARTI report. It is rare today to find a big block C.J. Mach I with its original motor and transmission. This Mach I has both. It also has the original rear end and shaker assembly to include the hood. Even the SMOG system is in place. The 51,067 miles are the original miles.
This Mach I was discovered by a K.A.R. customer tucked away in a garage. He purchased the car, completely dismantled it, had it stripped to bare metal on a rotisserie. Every square inch of metal was inspected. Any metal that was suspect was replaced professionally with the best panels available today. It was repainted its original Royal Maroon color. It was then meticulously reassembled. All new AMK hardware and fasteners were used. The drive line was completely rebuilt. Everything is fresh. K.A.R. supplied the parts and materials for the restoration so we are aware of the quality that went into this restoration. The owner/restorer is a careful and meticulous person who believes in doing it right the first time. OVER $55,000 OF RESTORATION RECEIPTS GO WITH THIS MACH 1. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE CAR AND THE MANY HOURS THE OWNER PERSONALLY DEVOTED TO THIS RESTORATION.
The Royal Maroon paint is gorgeous. All exterior chrome and moldings are in new condition. The gold and white Mach I stripes are new, of course. The black Mach I interior looks new and the finest materials available were obviously used. The instrument cluster contains the original tachometer, which is a rare and desirable option. The instrument and clock bezels were rechromed and redetailed. The steering wheel was professionally restored to new appearing condition. The owner really likes the fold down rear seat option so he added it to this Mach I. Of course he found and purchased an original fold down seat assembly. Many Mustang enthusiasts are aware of the issues with glued in door glass in 1969 Mustang. This glued in glass often broke free after frequent use. In 1970 Ford switched to bolt in glass. The door glass in this Mach I has been upgraded to 1970 bolt in glass. This will eliminate the chance for future problems with glued in glass.
The engine compartment is meticulously clean and nicely detailed. The engine has 25 miles on it since it was rebuilt. The carburetor is original and obviously correct. Even the battery is an Autolite battery. The engine starts easily and runs strong. This is a well done engine compartment. All the rare and hard to find parts are present.
This is a stunning Mustang muscle car with extraordinary curb appeal. It is the documented real deal. If you are looking for a “matching numbers” top quality Cobra Jet Mach I, this certainly is one to consider. From an investment viewpoint, big block Cobra Jet Mach I’s are among the most popular and most desirable.
