Sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances that may cause budget overruns. As an example, when an engine is pulled for a thorough engine compartment detailing, unexpected frame damage or fender apron rust can be discovered. Another example might be worn suspension or brake components that create a safety risk to you the driver and others. There are numerous "surprises" that can occur when working with older cars. When one of these unforeseen circumstances presents itself, work ceases and you are contacted. We discuss the situation first hand. We provide an updated estimate for your approval. We make every effort to avoid surprises through thorough estimation, but they do occur. Estimates over $1,000 include a 10% contingency for unexpected surprises. If no surprises occur, the 10% will not be billed. In no event will an estimate exceed the 10% contingency level. Additions or changes requested by the customer that raise the estimate are not covered by the contingency.
